The word “photography” was created from Greek roots: “phōtos“, meaning “light” and “graphé” meaning “drawing”; together meaning “drawing with light”.
Without light, there would be no photography.
I have worked in lighting since 2008, designing lighting schemes for a wide array of applications and areas. From this I have learnt and appreciated how to control light (be it natural or not) to achieve the desired effect. Light is invaluable in photography, and the better you understand light the better your photographs can be.
